Monitoring of Brown Meagre and Groupers

Natural Heritage

Since 2018, the AMPN, as the manager of Monaco's Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), has been conducting biannual monitoring of the populations of brown meagre and groupers, iconic and protected fish species of the Mediterranean. This monitoring is carried out in collaboration with the consulting firm Thalassa Marine Research & Environmental Awareness. It ensures the effectiveness of protection measures and tracks the demographic trends of these two species.

The second campaign of 2024 has just concluded, with a large amount of data collected. The results will be shared once the analyses are completed.

This program is supported by the Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco.
