Monitoring fish juveniles

This week, AMPN carried out its third annual juvenile fish monitoring survey within Monaco’s two Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).
The aim of this monitoring programme is to assess the abundance of young fish during the early stages of their development and to identify the habitats they favour.
The data collected are essential for better guiding management actions and ultimately contributing to the maintenance and renewal of adult fish populations.
This latest survey recorded more than 4,000 juveniles belonging to 13 different species. Once again, these results confirm the essential role of MPAs as areas where young fish can settle, grow and develop.
