Monitoring fish juveniles

Natural Heritage

AMPN continues its quarterly monitoring of “baby fish” in Monaco’s Marine Protected Areas. These juveniles play a key role in renewing adult populations and maintaining the ecological balance of these valuable marine environments.

The spring campaign has just wrapped up successfully, with over 14,000 juveniles recorded! Salemas, sand smelts, and mullets alone accounted for more than 95% of the individuals observed.

Good news: species of high ecological importance, such as seabreams and European seabass, were also spotted!

See you in summer 2025 for the next campaign
