Marine Educative Area "Generation 9" : The Mediterranean Sea, basic concepts

Marine Educative Area

On Friday, October 16, the AMPN visited the CM2E class at Saint-Charles School.

The visit laid the foundations for the students’ work throughout the school year. After reviewing the characteristics that define a fish, the students explored the unique features of the Mediterranean Sea and discovered the exceptional biodiversity it supports.

The discussions provided an opportunity to better understand the fragility of this ecosystem, the threats it faces, and the consequences for marine habitats and species, some of which are now threatened with extinction.

To conclude, the students reflected on the actions humans can take to preserve marine ecosystems, protect habitats and, where necessary, restore them.

Already full of inspiration, they came up with several practical ideas, including the creation of marine protected areas, the restoration of Posidonia seagrass meadows, and the deployment of artificial structures to support biodiversity.
