Marine Educative Area "Generation 9": MEA discovery on site

Marine Educative Area

After discovering the concept of a Marine Educative Area and meeting Toby the salema, the CM2 E students from École Saint-Charles set off to explore their own MEA!

On September 25, the AMPN team, accompanied by scientific advisor Dr Alexis Pey from Thalassa Marine research & Environmental awareness, guided the students around the site to observe its different terrestrial and marine habitats, the species living there, as well as the human activities putting pressure on the environment.

The students then shared their initial observations using keywords and a sketch of the MEA. This first approach helped them become more familiar with the site and begin to understand the effects of habitat degradation on marine environments and their biodiversity, the central theme of Generation 9.

Program supported by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the Government of Monaco.
