Marine Educative Area "Generation 9": MEA discovery in class
Marine Educative Area
The school year is getting underway, marking the arrival of a new generation of students taking charge of Monaco’s Marine Educative Area (MEA)!
On September 18, the AMPN team visited the CM2 E class at Saint-Charles School to introduce the students to the MEA concept, which originated in the Marquesas Islands, as well as the specific features of Monaco’s own MEA.
The students also met Toby, the mascot of Generation 8. This year, Toby has asked them for help because he has noticed that marine habitats are increasingly deteriorating as a result of human activities.
Throughout the year, the class will therefore explore this issue, focusing in particular on measures that can be implemented to protect and restore marine habitats.
Through their ideas, observations, and actions, the students will have the mission of providing valuable help to their new friend Toby—and, through him, to many other marine species!
Program supported by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the Government of Monaco.
