Marine Educative Area "Generation 8" : The Mediterranean Sea, basic concepts

Marine Educative Area

On Tuesday, October 21, the AMPN met with the CM2 students of the Institution François d’Assise–Nicolas Barré to introduce them to some basic concepts about the Mediterranean Sea.

During the presentation, the children explored the unique features of this remarkable sea. Although small in size and under strong human pressure, it hosts an extraordinary biodiversity. The students also became aware of its fragility in the face of human impacts and the importance of preserving it.

The session then focused on food relationships and the balance between prey and predators. The children learned that human activities can disrupt these interactions and marine ecosystems.

These new insights will help them better understand the challenges posed by climate warming — the year's central theme — and the importance of taking action to protect the marine environment.

Inspired, they already came up with several practical solutions to apply in their daily lives: reducing fish consumption, choosing local products, limiting plastic use, and adopting more environmentally responsible behaviors.
