Marine Educative Area "Generation 8" : The Marine Educative Area: learning to love and protect the sea
Marine Educative Area
A true learning environment, the Marine Educative Area, created in 2018 by the AMPN, enables younger generations to discover the richness of biodiversity, understand the threats it faces, and take action: raising awareness today to preserve tomorrow.
The scientific approach developed with the Monaco Scientific Centre through this coral bleaching experiment has allowed these young Ambassadors of the Sea to clearly grasp the impact of climate change on marine ecosystems, to develop genuine environmental awareness, and perhaps even to inspire a few future careers.
To support the apprentice researchers, two mascots, “Toby the salema,” concerned about the changes affecting the Mediterranean, and “Stony Coral,” a witness to threatened tropical reefs, have become true guides. The students quickly embraced them, immersed themselves in their adventures, and enthusiastically rose to the challenge of protecting the oceans.
