Marine Educative Area "Generation 8": MEA discovery in class
Marine Educative Area
The school year begins, bringing with it a new generation of students responsible for managing Monaco’s Marine Educative Area (MEA)!
This afternoon, the AMPN team met with a CM2 class from the Institution François d’Assise – Nicolas Barré to introduce them to the concept of the AME, created in the Marquesas Islands, as well as the specific features of Monaco’s site.
The students also discovered this year’s mascot: a small salema spotted by AMPN divers within the AME. Concerned about the steady rise in water temperature, it asked for their help in finding ways to slow down this phenomenon.
The class will therefore focus on the issue of climate change, and in particular on the impact of warming waters on biodiversity. Throughout the year, the students’ commitment will provide valuable support to their new friend, the saupe, and to many other marine species!
