Marine Educative Area "Generation 8" : A new generation of ambassadors of the sea!
Marine Educative Area
Since the start of the 25/26 school year, a CM2 class from the Institution François d’Assise – Nicolas Barré has been actively involved in the Marine Educative Area, an awareness-raising program led by the AMPN since 2018.
The students are immersed in the discovery of tropical corals to better understand the effects of climate change.
In partnership with the Monaco Scientific Centre, a unique educational program has been set up.
Two coral colonies have been installed in two aquariums: one is kept at a normal temperature of 25 °C, while the other is exposed to an abnormally high temperature of 31 °C, linked to global warming. This situation triggers the phenomenon of coral bleaching.
On January 20, the students were able to observe the condition of both colonies in the laboratory and take part in several discovery workshops.
