Marine Educative Area "Generation 7" : European Week for Waste Reduction

Marine Educative Area

As part of European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR), on Thursday, November 21, the AMPN visited the 7A class at Saint Charles School, responsible for the AME program.

The session began with a presentation on food waste, this year’s central EWWR theme, with a particular focus on overfishing and its impacts.

It continued with two interactive workshops.

The “Sustainable Fishing” Game: An activity to understand how to reduce the impact of fishing by practicing responsibly and following simple rules like respecting minimum catch sizes and fish reproduction periods.

The “PyraMed” Game: A workshop exploring the concept of the food chain, highlighting the impact of human-induced imbalances on ecosystems.

In parallel, throughout the week, AMPN is engaging the entire Saint Charles School with the “Save a Fish” initiative. Every student who reduces waste earns a wooden fish to place in a box for their grade level. At the end of the week, the grade that saves the most fish – and thus wastes the least – wins the challenge.

This program is supported by the Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco and the Government of Monaco.
