Marine Educative Area "Generation 3": Shallow depths
Marine Educative Area
The students of 7ème A at Fontvieille School set out this morning to explore the animal and plant species of shallow marine depths.
In the form of an engaging "virtual dive," Dr. Heike Molenaar taught the students to identify different species using dive slates and provided brief information about their lifestyle, reproduction, or feeding habits.
A second workshop focused on learning the FAST protocol, a tool used in citizen science to assess the state of fish populations. Using a PowerPoint presentation, the students conducted their first fish counts in situ (or almost).
As part of interdisciplinary activities, their teacher simultaneously worked on drafting species identification sheets in the computer room.
