Awareness raising during "From Seychelles to Monaco"
Education and Awareness
Today, the AMPN participated in the event "From the Seychelles to Monaco" organized at the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort by the Consulate of the Republic of Seychelles in Monaco.
This event, held on the occasion of Seychelles National Day, aimed to promote the country and its culture, strengthen exchanges between Seychelles and Monaco, and raise awareness among young people about environmental issues.
The AMPN presented numerous actions for the preservation of the marine natural heritage within and around the Protected Marine Areas of Monaco, which it manages. Two activities were also offered to raise awareness among the young audience. Children were introduced to sustainable fishing. They captured silhouettes of fish, which they then had to measure to determine if they were of legal size to be consumed or if they needed to be released back into the water.
Additionally, the children had the opportunity to take on the role of animal caretakers by releasing papier-mâché dolphins or turtles trapped in human-made waste. Through this activity, they learned how to find biodegradable alternatives to such waste.
