Education and Awareness
Today, the AMPN had the pleasure of taking part in the Fête de la Science in Monaco, alongside the Musée d’Anthropologie Préhistorique de Monaco and the Centre Scientifique de Monaco.
This event highlighted the two Marine Protected Areas of the Principality, created and managed by AMPN, as well as the conservation and research efforts carried out throughout the year.
The public had the opportunity to explore the richness of Monaco’s marine natural heritage, including the diversity of species and the crucial ecological role of the Posidonia seagrass meadow. Visitors also learned how artificial reefs — some of which were installed as early as the 1970s — support ecological restoration efforts.
Educational workshops allowed young participants to get hands-on experience by building their own artificial reefs using Blokos bricks. By imagining “homes for fish” tailored to the needs of each species, they were able to understand how these structures help promote marine biodiversity.
