MPA presentation at École Saint-Charles in 7ème class : Intervention n°1

Education and Awareness

On March 5th, the AMPN visited the students of 7ème E at Saint-Charles School.

This meeting marks the first of three sessions dedicated to discovering Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).

During this introduction, the students explored the definition of an MPA, its role in preserving the marine environment, and the many ecological benefits it provides.

The presentation then focused on the MPAs of Monaco, particularly the Larvotto MPA. The students learned about the importance of Posidonia seagrass beds, an essential habitat for many species, as well as other habitats such as rocky and sandy bottoms. They also learned to identify some iconic marine organisms, including fish, crustaceans, and mollusks.

The next session will allow the students to explore the Larvotto MPA firsthand to observe this natural environment directly.

Congratulations to the students for their active participation and curiosity!

A big thank you to the teacher and the Saint-Charles School administration for their commitment to raising awareness among the younger generations.
