MPA presentation at École Saint-Charles in 7ème class : Intervention n°3
Education and Awareness
On Thursday, April 30th, the AMPN returned to the 7th E class at Saint-Charles School for the third and final session dedicated to discovering Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).
After reviewing the concepts covered in class and during the field trip, the students took on the role of managers of the Larvotto MPA. Divided into small groups, they participated in a fun workshop that led them to make decisions regarding various activities at sea, such as fishing, navigation, or water sports. Using a simplified set of regulations, they had to determine which activities were allowed or prohibited.
A group presentation then allowed the students to summarize the different uses practiced within the MPA and to better understand the challenges related to its management. They thus learned the importance of striking a balance between protective measures necessary to preserve biodiversity and economic or recreational activities compatible with marine conservation.
Congratulations to the entire class for their involvement, seriousness, and enthusiasm throughout these sessions.
