Science Festival 2024
Education and Awareness
Today, the AMPN hosted a booth at Monaco's Science Festival held at the Carrefour Shopping Center. This event provided an opportunity to highlight the Principality’s two Marine Protected Areas, managed by AMPN, as well as the conservation and research activities carried out there.
Visitors could dive into the world of MPAs, exploring their main habitats through models and maps. The development of artificial reefs, from the first ones submerged in the 1970s to the latest created in 2017 using giant 3D printers, was also showcased.
Children participated in fun workshops to discover the diverse species within the MPAs through games adapted to the marine environment, such as memory, snakes and ladders, and “Who’s Who?”. With the sustainable fishing game, they also learned that ocean conservation can coexist with human activities, provided a few simple rules are respected.
